garlic is a strong anti viral but you gotta crush it, and eat it raw. It might help putting it on, not sure…. Apple cider is also an antiviral, use the Bragg’s organic one is the best… Sleep lots, so it doesn’t return, it will never leave in a day though… Strong b12 vitamin helps, that is 1000-5000 mg…. the bad news: cold sores are the result of a viral infection that is related to but not the same as herpes. if you get cold sores, this means you are infected. it lies dormant until your immune system dips down. so long as you are careful not to spread the infection to your eyes or genitals, this is as bad as it gets. as far as cures go, i don’t think there are any. i use zovirax cream. zovirax also have handy new plastic patches that help conceal the sore and stop it spreading. if you want to prevent spreading the sore : wash your hands whenever you touch the area around your mouth; never pick or scratch the sore; use a treatment as early as possible (keep one in the medicine cabinet or in your desk at work).
the best way to prevent them coming back is to keep your immune system strong. eat a nutritious diet and get 8 hours sleep a night.
also talk to a pharmacist for advice. they know best.

I know that not everyone shows symptoms of genital herpes, but if someone has cold sores, wouldn’t they show symptoms of genital herpes if they had them?
Cold sores are HSV-1, genital herpes is HSV-2. Some people with one or both of these viruses NEVER show any symptoms nor have an actual outbreak, yet they are fully capable of spreading the disease.
Also, cold sores on the mouth can be spread to another person’s genitals via oral sex, so it’s possible to have HSV-1 genitally as well as hsv-2 orally.
The only way to know for sure is to be tested -and it can take up to 4 months after exposure for your body to create the antibodies that the test recognizes. Note that the basic STD test does NOT include testing for HSV!! you must specifically ask for hsv test in addition to basic std’s they test for. This is probably part of the reason these diseases are so rampant!

cold sore?
ok here’s my question. one day i went outside to walk around and i suddenly started to feel the left side of my lower lip begin to swell a little. I didn’t know what it was but it was bugging me. i put some lip balm on it and forgot all about it until the next day. when i woke up there was a red patch that sort of looked like a where it was once swollen. it grew a bit over the day. my friend told me it was a cold sore. i put lip balm on it and it sort of went away. there is now pink skin, which means it’s healing, right? well, now for some reason i have started to get little white bumps all over my fingers. it started with one bump but now it’s starting to spread. is it because of the cold sore? what is it? what should i do. also any home remedies for a cold sore? i can’t afford abreva.
ps. i’ve never had sex. so it couldn’t be a std, right?
the bumps started showing up the day right after i got the cold sore. i thought they might be related. also, the bumps are clear. they look like they have water inside. they are mostly in between my left hand’s pinky and the finger right next to it. they’ve started to spread to my other fingers and to my right hand. aahh! i read something somewhere about bumps showing up on your hands and feet when you have syphilis. could that be it??
well a cold sore is a type of herpes (i think that’s how you spell it) you could use carmex to get rid of the cold sore. i don’t know about the little white bumps. doctors think that cold sores are caused by stress, really hot weather, or really cold weather.

How can I get rid of my 2 cold sores by Tuesday?
I have 2 cold sores above my lip under my nose and I was wondering how can I rid them. They are in the stage when they are crusty and if you pick its oozing clear and blood. I have Abreva, and Carmex. What else can I do to speed this up? Or get them completely gone by Tuesday, which is my dad’s wedding and I do not want nasty cold sores. They are also pretty small. Help!!!!
I recommend drinking cold milk or holding an ice block to it every few hours. This should help keep it moisturized and reduce the blister size.
And have a good time at your dad’s wedding 
If the above doesnt work, you could always put a patch on it and cover it with lipstick/foundation.
